AREC recently attended a Police Search and Rescue Exercise in Hawkes Bay that ran from Friday 8th November through to Sunday 10th November.
The exercise was held in the Hinerua, Three Johns and Waipawa Forks areas.
Hawkes Bay AREC members joined New Zealand Police SAR personnel and Land Search and Rescue (LandSAR) for the scenario, which saw the agencies working together to find the identified people (actors).
These scenario exercises are a great opportunity for AREC to prepare for future multi-agency operations that support the lost, missing, and injured.3 weeks ago

The inaugural General Meeting of Hawkes Bay AREC was witnessed and attended by AREC members from Napier, Hastings, and the Police SAR Squad Liaison Officer at Stoneycroft Homestead in Hastings.

All hands to the pump simulated Multiagency SAREX – Sat 2 Nov 24
Search, Rescue and Emergency Management teams honed their skills during the "All hands to the pump" simulated Gabrielle-like exercise at Tangimoana on Saturday 2nd Nov 2024.
Andy Brook joined Carl Knight and welcomed more than 60 Search, Rescue, Civil Defence and Emergency Management members from across the region, including from Police SAR, Palmerston North SAR, Tararua SAR, Manawatu AREC, Manawatu Tararua Surf SAR, PNCC REST and Rangitikei Civil Defence and Emergency Management.
Members had their skills tested in several roles including inter-agency communications, portage of personnel by water, handling of patients over large bodies of water, searching areas of inundation, and incident management functions.
These exercises provide a safe learning environment in which volunteers can refine their skills, learn new techniques and share ideas with other agencies from across the Central Police District. ... See MoreSee Less
