Some photos of the Amateur Radio Emergency Communications (AREC) services display during today’s Emergency Services Expo hosted by Te Papa Museum on Wellington’s Waterfront.
Fantastic day, the huge crowd and that great support from Daniel Liddle, Brendon Clarke, Peter Ritchie, Ross Pedder, Ray Harkness, Annalise Mokalei-Smith, John Murphy and Simon Osborne made it a successful event.
Absolutely, the best part was seeing the kids turn up to operate the Morse Code training unit, PRS handheld radios and tracking down the Te Papa MC and his endless supply of AREC lollies using the WanderSearch tracking device.

AREC HB volunteers from Hastings and Napier work tirelessly alongside the local Police to assist in an overnight Mini-SAREX (Search and Rescue Exercise) involving an overdue fisherman and LandSAR field teams in the Whirinaki / Tangoio area (5-6 Apr, 24).
